Why teach students how to do origami?

 

Origami teaches several things.

1.  It teaches following directions.  

2.  Students learn how to work on patience when doing origami.

3.  Critical Thinking:  When you are learning a new model, you will make mistakes and that is okay.  You will learn a lot from your mistakes.  It's an essential part of the learning process.  You will have to retrace your steps and figure out what is working right and what you need to go back and figure out to get to the end goal of your project.

4.  It is fun and part of our unit on Japanese storytelling.
